Franz Molitor was born on August 17, 1857 in Capellen, Luxembourg.
He painted religious compositions, genre scenes, portraits, and still lifes.
Molitor was the student of K. Sohn, P. Jansen, and E. von Gebhardt in Düsseldorf.
He died on July 1929 in Oberlahnstein, Germany.
