Dimensions : H. 41.3 inches x W. 25.6 inches
This is a set of four beech wood gilded armchairs. They have a high rectangular furnished back that is slightly inclined towards the rear. The armrests and their supports form a right angle, which is reminiscent of the Louis XIV period. However, the armrests are curved and this comes from the régence period. The feet which are also curved are finished off with a scroll that rolls outwards and are connected by an X-stretcher that is also curved. The base and apron are all finely carved en plein bois with flowers and symmetrical foliage. The workmanship of the gilding is remarkable. The reparure is abundant and finely executed.
Period: circa 1720 – Régence
Condition: Good general condition. The wood was reassembled, and it is all original except for the tips of the feet which were redone because they were worn down. The stretchers are also original and the gilding was partially redone. The upholstery is new and is from Rubelli.
